2004 Wyliecat wyliecat 30

Alameda, California

$69,000

Catalyst is a 2004 Wyliecat 30, designed by noted California naval architect Tom Wylie, offering a rare combination of performance, simplicity, and ease of handling. Built around Wylie’s innovative wishbone cat rig and a freestanding carbon fiber mast, the Wyliecat 30 eliminates the need for headsails and complicated sail handling while still delivering lively and responsive sailing performance. The powerful fully battened mainsail provides excellent balance and control, allowing the boat to be sailed confidently by one person while still offering plenty of performance for spirited daysailing or club racing.

One of the great appeals of the Wyliecat design is the ability to enjoy strong performance with remarkably simple sail handling—making the boat especially well suited to the breezy conditions and short-handed sailing common on San Francisco Bay. Light, responsive, and easy to manage, the Wyliecat 30 has developed a loyal following among West Coast sailors who appreciate clean design, open cockpit space, and the freedom to sail without a large crew. Whether sailing solo, enjoying a relaxed afternoon with friends, or heading out for a coastal cruise, Catalyst represents the distinctive performance and practical elegance that define Tom Wylie’s designs.

The Wyliecat 30 is widely appreciated for its ability to be sailed comfortably short-handed or single-handed. The wishbone cat rig allows sail handling and reefing to be managed easily from the cockpit, making the boat both enjoyable and confidence-inspiring even in stronger wind conditions.
