2006 Custom Transpac 52
Wasabi is the original Judel/Vrolijk designed Mean Machine built at Hakes Marine and launched in 2006. Mean Machine won the Breitling MedCup in her debut year, and in 2008 won the City of Alicante series of the Audi MedCup circuit. She became part of the Ono program after the 2008 season, and was then sold to the Stark Raving Mad program in February 2009 as Stark Raving Mad V and shipped to San Diego.
She underwent a Reichel-Pugh designed comprehensive refit in 2009 being substantially upgraded and optimized for IRC including the addition of a carbon sprit and internal carbon structures for offshore racing. She was raced extensively in Southern California during 2009 through 2011. Over this time, she was the most winning TP52 and was the i52 Class Champion for 2010. She was sold in 2011 to Victor Wild and named Bud, winning the ORRA division and St.Francis Perpetual trophy at the 2015 Rolex Big Boat Series.
She was sold in 2016 to Dale Williams and became his latest Wasabi and raced successfully in the Southern California Yachting Association circuit. In her time in Southern California she has had an updated rudder and keel, a custom Brad Fitzgerald carbon bow sprit, and all new running rigging in 2018/2019. Well outfitted and maintained, she comes with an extensive sail inventory.
